Are you among the 25% of UK adults living with obesity? Don't let the myths and misconceptions hold you back from achieving a healthier life
The truth about obesity
Contrary to popular belief, obesity is not merely a lifestyle choice or a result of laziness. Healthcare professionals worldwide recognise obesity as a disease – an abnormal condition that negatively impacts bodily functions and overall health.
The reality
Maintaining weight loss is often the biggest challenge, as 45% of people find it hard to stay motivated to eat well and exercise daily. Additionally, 39% struggle to make healthy choices while juggling work and family life.
But did you know that even modest weight loss can significantly improve depression, mobility, blood sugar levels, fertility, and more?
Common myths

Respondents believe being obese is a lifestyle choice and not a disease

Respondents believe obesity is solely caused by eating too much

Respondents believe you must lose a lot of weight to make a difference to your health
Real patients. Real results.
Read about Erica Bergsmeds, a Yazen patient whose quality of life has been transformed through our service.

“My BMI was too high which combined with high cholesterol made me feel very depressed. I tried every diet on the planet over the years but nothing worked. I joined Yazen as I felt it was a trustworthy brand and it’s been so easy and great that it makes me feel emotional. It’s given me a whole new outlook on life, dieting and self-confidence, that you don't need to suffer in silence or pretend you are happy when you are not. I found that it has given me a stable life not just a stable weight. Not having food on my mind 24/7 has been the biggest relief and allows more time for more important things!”

Du kannst auch Unterstützung bei Bescheinigungen erhalten, wie z. B. Atteste oder Reisebescheinigungen.

Frequently asked questions
Below we list the most frequently asked questions about our service. If you have other questions or concerns, please contact us and we will help you.
What happens when I have reached a healthy target weight?
When you have reached a healthy target weight, you begin determining a maintenance dose. This is the dose of medication you need to remain weight stable, i.e. to stay in energy balance. The maintenance dose is your medical support to prevent weight regain. Research shows that individuals who stop taking medication tend to regain weight. At present, we do not know how long each individual will need to continue medication – for many, it may potentially be lifelong.
Which medications does Yazen use for weight loss?
At Yazen, we always tailor the treatment to your unique circumstances. Our doctors make an individual medical assessment to see which medication or combination of medications fits you best.
Basic treatment: GLP-1 and GIP analogues
As a basic treatment, our doctors usually prescribe modern, appetite-regulating medications. These are called GLP-1 medications or GLP-1/GIP analogues.
- They work by mimicking your body's own fullness hormones.
- They help curb your appetite, increase the feeling of fullness, and reduce cravings, making it easier to maintain healthy habits over time.
Combination treatment when needed
There are several approved and safe medications on the market that can be relevant for weight loss. If needed to achieve the best results, your doctor may choose to combine the basic treatment with other complementary medications.
How is my medication decided?
It is always your responsible doctor who makes the final decision about your medication. The assessment is based on:
- Your health history and individual circumstances.
- Any other medications you might be taking.
- Which medications are judged to give the best and safest results for your weight loss journey.
Do you have questions about a specific product or your current treatment? You can always contact your care team directly in the Yazen app.
What risks and side effects can be experienced from the medication?
Side effects are usually few, mild, and temporary. The most common side effects affect the gastrointestinal tract, such as nausea, gas, abdominal discomfort, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea.
Side effects can often be avoided by starting treatment at a low dose and by adjusting meal content and portion size. Always inform your doctor or coach if you experience side effects so that you can receive advice and support.
How effective is medical weight loss with Yazen?
This is individual. You set a target weight. Your coach and doctor are here to support you and ensure that weight loss and treatment follow-up are carried out in a safe and patient-focused way.
What is included in medical weight loss at Yazen?
The service includes regular blood tests, medical assessment, initiation of medical treatment, as well as individually tailored programmes for mental health, exercise, and diet. The cost of medication is not included in the subscription price. You get access to a medical team (doctor, coach, dietitian, psychologist if needed), digital tools through our app, and a structured approach to lifestyle change and medical treatment. You receive personal follow-up and support throughout your entire journey.
